DMA's first Hurtle St project required a new modern extension for a growing family. The heritage facade and front portion of the dwelling was retained and a new, modern extension was designed to contrast with the existing condition. A clear demarcation is evident through the use of materials and a large pivot door that leads through to the rear open plan area. Light filled with modern appliances and plenty of space for living and entertaining with access and views to the outdoor living area, pool and yard.
Location: Ascot Vale Completed: 2015
Built to the rear of an existing period style home, the Hurtle St extension provides a contrast between the historical character of the existing dwelling and the modern, open plan living and dining and kitchen space. Materials and proportions were all designed to enhance this juxtaposition while achieving a light filled, dramatic environment for a family of 5. High-end fixtures and fittings were selected along with quality finishes which create a highly sophisticated finish.
